Three Lanes wins Silver at national awards
Three Lanes Lyttelton Street has won a Silver Award at the 2026 New Zealand Commercial Project Awards - the third time a Consortium Construction-led ŌCHT development has received a national honour.
ŌCHT’s most ambitious development since its three community Brougham Street development in 2021 was the only South Island development recognised in a category dominated by private and commercial market-oriented projects.
The Silver Award in the Residential category was garnered by a project that transformed a 60-year-old social housing site into a well-designed, carefully developed, purposefully built, vibrant, mixed-tenure community.
It transformed a former 32-unit pensioner complex into a connected 65-home community delivering 123 bedrooms across community housing, affordable rentals and Progressive Home Ownership homes.
It was delivered on a live urban site, and needed careful demolition, ground remediation, and sequencing to minimise disruption.
Its laneways, landscaped shared spaces, and north-facing designs enhance liveability, while high-spec materials and solar panels ensure long-term durability and performance.
Overall, the award recognised not only the finished homes, but the significant challenges overcome to deliver them.
It was a complex site from the outset. Building on former landfill required extensive ground improvement work and careful engineering to ensure these homes will perform for generations to come.
The result delivers warm, dry, healthy homes designed around real people and real lives, with thoughtful shared spaces, strong environmental performance and homes are modern, welcoming and connected.
The award was presented to Consortium Construction, but also recognised the strength of collaboration across the entire development team, including PXA Architects, Barnes Beagley Doherr, Quoin Structural Consultants and Rangzen Pro Limited.
It's the third award Consortium Construction has won for an ŌCHT development.
Tīwaiwaka Lane won Silver in the same category in the same awards back in 2021, and Willard Street won an Excellence Award in the Community and Affordable Housing Property category in the Property Council of New Zealand Property Industry Awards 2024.
And there may be more to come: Three Lanes is a finalist in the Property Industry Awards this year.
