Our quality commitment
Quality is not an add-on or a compliance exercise for us. It is how we ensure our homes are safe, our services are reliable, and our communities can place trust in what we do.
We work in a complex environment, supporting people, managing homes, and investing public and community resources. That responsibility requires strong systems, clear accountability, and a commitment to continual improvement.
Growing with strong systems, accountability, and continuous improvement
What quality means at ŌCHT
For us, quality means services that are consistent and fair, homes that are safe, well maintained, and fit for purpose, decisions that are informed and transparent, risks that are identified and managed early, and learning from feedback and experience.
At ŌCHT, quality is about doing things well and doing them better over time.
Independent assurance matters
Our accountability is more than self-assessment, and more than than the necessary checks by our regulator the Community Housing Regulatory Authority.
That’s why we use independent, internationally recognised standards to guide how we operate and to verify our performance. They help us ensure our systems are robust, our risks are managed, and our services are delivered in a consistent and responsible way, regardless of scale or complexity.
Our ISO certifications
ŌCHT is the first community housing provider in New Zealand to have its approaches to quality management, health and safety, and environmental management ISO certified.
These certifications confirm our systems, processes, and controls have been externally audited and meet recognised best-practice standards. It means our community can be sure we value clear processes, safer environments, and a consistent approach to service delivery.

We seek continuous improvement
Quality is not static, it’s something we demonstrate, measure, and strengthen every day.
We regularly review our performance and outcomes, assess risks and controls, update policies and procedures, incorporate tenant and community feedback, and respond to independent audit findings.
This cycle of review and improvement helps us strengthen services over time and remain accountable to the communities we serve.
We are committed to operating transparently, being accountable for our performance, learning from experience, and improving all the time.
