Our housing options

We offer community housing, affordable rentals and progressive home ownership in communities across Christchurch.

Community housing

We’ve been a registered Community Housing Provider since 2016. Unpack what it means to be a Community Housing Provider here.

Community Housing is for: People in acute housing need who are on the MSD Public Housing Register.

How it works: We house people from the register when suitable homes become available.

If Community Housing works for you: Get on the Public Housing Register and keep your details up to date.

Affordable rentals

Our Affordable rents are 79% of market rent.

Best for: Households in rental stress who can’t afford market rent, but don’t qualify for or don’t need public housing.

What’s available: Mostly one-bedroom units across many housing complexes; some family homes in purpose-built developments.

If Affordable rental looks good to you: Check eligibility and register interest for current or upcoming vacancies.

Progressive home ownership

Secure Home is our progressive home ownership programme.

Best for: Low-to-median income working families with children who want a pathway into home ownership.

How it works: Secure Home is a 100-year leasehold that lowers upfront cost by separating land and build costs; you get secure tenure and the rights of home ownership.

Where it’s available: Two- and three-bedroom Secure Home properties are now available at Three Lanes Lyttelton Street.

If Secure Home looks good to you: Register your interest to get things started.
