Notice of Intention to Promote a Private Bill
Notice is given under the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives that Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust ("the Trust") intends to promote a Private Bill into Parliament called the Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust (Trust Variation) Bill.
The object of the Bill is to amend the Trust's deed to allow the trust to provide social and affordable rental housing and associated services beyond Christchurch and Banks Peninsula. Currently, the Trust's deed prohibits the Trust from offering services outside of Christchurch and Banks Peninsula. The required changes to the Trust's purpose and other associated provisions in the trust deed cannot be made other than by private legislation.
Copies of the Bill are available for inspection, without fee, for a period of not less than 15 complete working days from 13 November to 5 December 2025, during usual business hours, at the Trust's headquarters at 61 Kilmore Street, Christchurch Central, Christchurch (in accordance with Appendix C to the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives).
