Housing Heroes nominations rolling in!

ŌCHT community engagement lead Polly is busy receiving nominations for the 2025 Housing Heroes Awards.

Have you nominated your ŌCHT Housing Hero (to recognise a local legend AND go into the draw to win one of five $50 vouchers) yet?

If you haven’t, there’s still time to nominate the neighbour who goes above and beyond to contribute to your community.

As of September 30, nearly 20 ŌCHT tenants were already on the nominations list.

Many of these amazing neighbours got more than one nomination.

They've been nominated for all sorts of stuff that helps their communities, including:

  • providing an amazing community lounge environment, with information and activities

  • visiting neighbours in hospital

  • getting food parcels to those in need

  • mobilising emergency services when there was a fire

  • organising a community Halloween event

  • caring for others’ gardens and keeping shared spaces extra tidy

  • washing neighbours' kerbside bins

  • doing odd jobs for vulnerable or unwell neighbours

  • teaching a neighbour to cook (how good!)

  • taking neighbours to shopping and appointments

  • keeping an eye on neighbours with mobility issues and helping out when they need it

  • sharing clothing

  • charging car batteries, changing tyres

  • supporting neighbours for whom English is a second language

Nominations close on October 20 - so click through to the Housing Heroes 2025 page to learn more and to make your nomination!
