Warm up your job hunt
Winter can feel like a time to hunker down but for anyone thinking about new opportunities, it’s a great time to get work ready in the comfort of your own home.
Exploring job sites and resources is a good first step — and when you’re ready for more personalised support, we’re here to help.
There are heaps of fantastic online resources you can explore right now.
Start by checking out job seeking websites, especially those focused on opportunities right here in Christchurch.
This will give you a good sense of what’s out there and what skills employers are looking for.
SEEK and Trade Me Jobs are New Zealand’s largest job websites, with a huge number of listings across all industries in Christchurch.
You can filter by location, work type (full-time, part-time, casual), industry and experience needed.
Jobspace has many jobs you mightn’t find on the big sites, and Zeil is especially good for finding entry level positions.
Work and Income lists jobs from all over New Zealand and can be a good place to find a wide range of opportunities, including those that might be suitable for people looking to enter the workforce or change careers.
They also have a Facebook page called Job Connect which shares information about job events and training opportunities in the region.
Careers NZ has heaps of information about careers, job hunting, and links to job vacancy and recruitment websites.
By having a look around and seeing what employers want, you’ll not only build your confidence but also be in a great position when you’re ready to connect with Logan and ŌCHT’s employment coaching service.
Our employment coaching service is here to support you further along your journey, offering personalised guidance and connecting you with opportunities. So, let’s make the most of winter and get you closer to your employment goals!
Until next time, stay warm out there!
