How we work: Property

Our property team maintains and improves our properties - and delivers new homes and communities - to help us provide the warm, dry and safe homes that are the foundation for sustainable tenancies.

  • We want our properties to be well-maintained and meet tenant needs. We do this by quickly responding to urgent work, having a great maintenance programme, and regularly visiting homes to check they’re okay. We have experienced handypeople and we also have trusted contractors who get their work done quickly and to a high standard.

  • We want our homes to be the best they can be, so we take a whole-of-life approach to their maintenance. We regularly assess our homes for everything from weathertightness to structural integrity, and we improve and renew them to ensure they can provide warm and safe homes for tenants for as long as their operational life allows.

  • We are committed to improving and growing community housing in Christchurch. We identify properties for remodeling or rebuild and manage a team of external designers, architects and contractors to deliver environmentally and social sustainable homes to budget and deadline. All new ŌCHT homes are built to achieve at least a New Zealand Green Building Council 6 Homestar Design rating.
