- TAG hopes to help achieve an inclusive tenant empowered way to enrich the lives of OCHT tenants.
The TAG was formed in 2017 and currently has 15 members who are all OCHT tenants.
This group meets monthly and is an advisory body rather than a decision-making one, as they provide advice to the Trust on matters affecting tenants. In addition to this, they organise tenant-led social activities to assist with reducing social isolation.
Areas of interest the group are focusing on are:
- Social activities
- Tenant health and well-being
- Maintenance and new developments
- Policies and advice
TAG have successfully organised and led bus trips for tenants to both Hanmer Springs and Akaroa with more bus trips yet to come. These have been very successful in helping to reduce isolation and encouraging tenants to get out and enjoy these areas and connect with other people, making new friends.
TAG have also been working with OCHT’s Community Development team to organise social High Teas at complexes with lounges to encourage greater use of these spaces.
TAG are developing a social activities calendar with OCHT to encourage more involvement and connectivity from all OCHT tenants.
TAG have also provided input to OCHT on communications between the Trust and tenants such as letters, social media and the regular newsletter.
New development plans have been shown to TAG members and they will be kept up to date throughout the new build processes to ensure tenant comments and feedback is considered and where possible incorporated into new builds.
The Trust are committed to include TAG where possible on matters directly impacting tenants.
