Rain emergency subsides

What a difference a day makes!

The sky is clearing and the flooding we had in parts of the city yesterday is subsiding.

We’re still in a Local State of Emergency but the threat is lessening as the rain does.

Our contractors have been flat out dealing with rain-related jobs called in during a big day for our call centre yesterday.

Please give us a call on 0800 624 456 if you’ve got a weather-related job that needs fixing – and thanks for your help during the rare Red Alert weather event.

Please also keep an eye on road closures. Some of the usual routes to and from ŌCHT homes – especially in New Brighton and Aranui – are either closed or down to one lane.

The Christchurch City Council hopes to reopen most today. You can see which roads are closed on the council’s interactive map.

You can read more about the developing situation on the council’s special emergency notices page.
