We’re working with Stats NZ to get census takers into some of our communities.
The Stats NZ team will visit a number of our community lounges to help tenants get counted during Census Week.
They’ll arrive with census forms, help and advice – and free pizza for whomever pops in to complete the census.
The census team will be at the following locations:
- MacKenzie Courts – 5pm Monday 6th March
- Jura Courts – 12 noon Tuesday 7th March
- Guthrie Courts – 5pm Tuesday 7th March
- Aldwins Courts – 12 noon Wednesday 8th March
- Waltham Courts – 5pm Wednesday 8th March
- Roimata Place – 12 noon Thursday 9th March
They’ll make themselves obvious in the community common areas or in community lounges.
You can find out more by reading our Census Flyer.
What’s a Census for?
Planning and resource allocation: Census data is used to plan and allocate resources for services such as healthcare, education, and housing. It’s also used to plan infrastructure projects, such as roads and public transport, and to determine the allocation of government funding to different regions.
Policy development: Census data is used by government agencies to develop policies and make informed decisions about social, economic, and environmental issues.
Electoral representation: Census data is used to determine the allocation of seats in Parliament and local government. This helps ensure that each region is fairly represented.
Research and analysis: Census data is used by researchers and analysts to better understand the population and to identify trends and patterns in areas such as demographics, employment, health, social issues and education.
