Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust has plans to build 28 units on our Cresselly Place site where previously there were 30. The development will have 25×1 and 3×2 bedroom homes. Some have been designed specifically as accessible, elderly persons, while the two-bedroom homes are suitable for families. The complex has been designed to fit in with the neighbourhood as we will be long term residents in the St Martins area.
The previous owner of the Cresselly Place site, the Christchurch City Council demolished the 30 units before the Trust took ownership and it is currently bare land.
Although the Trust does not have a definite start date for the work to begin at the site it is expected to start in the next couple of months.
This development has been carefully planned with a design that is sympathetic to the area. It is close to schools, medical centres, swimming facilities, good bus routes and shopping areas. We have planned a very low-density complex.
There are currently 829 people seeking housing through MSD in Christchurch. Our aim is to increase social housing to meet that need and Cresselly Place will be part of the new supply.
