I am on the MSD Social Housing Register, now what?

Where are OCHT homes?
We have homes across most parts of Christchurch, as far north as Belfast and as far south as Templeton. We also have some in Lyttelton and Akaroa.
What type of housing does OCHT provide?
Most are one bedroom units, and most of our households are single people or couples. We have a small number of units bigger than one bedroom. Most of our homes are in housing complexes rather than standalone.
How long does it take to get a OCHT home?
It’s hard to say, because there are so many variables. We have few vacancies and low tenant turnover, and there’s a lot of need for our homes. When we have a vacancy, we look for applicants from the MSD’s Social Housing Register. So, you need to be on the register to be considered.
How much rent would I pay?
Applicants from the MSD Social Housing Register pay based on an Income Related Rent. MSD tells OCHT what rent to charge you. The rent is linked to income and the number of people in your household.
I need accommodation in a hurry – can you help?

Can I keep a pet?
Our properties aren’t suitable for dogs. In some cases, we can accommodate registered disability assist dogs. We may allow one cat per household.
